Silent Reflection

Silent Reflection
A wall of rock gives mute testimony to the forces that helped create and shape it. The ancient volcanics have been heaved and broken by countless earthquakes; massive weights and forces caused by the advancing and retreating glaciers durng the ice ages have also left their mark. Erosion and pitting due to seasonal extremes and precipitation have added to the texture of the exposed surfaces. Cedar trees and scrub brush have taken root in the various cracks in the dark coloured igneous intrusion. The adjcent body of water, in addition to causing erosion, also mirrors the beauty that nature has taken so long to create. The silent reflection is disturbed by a pair of loons proudly taking their week old chick for a swim.
